Dalit appeals President for mercy death

Pilibhit, Apr 2 (UNI) Cornered by their economic condition, a Dalit family in Gajraula area here has appealed to the President Pratibha Patil for mercy death.

Shivlala Pasi of Diura had written to UP Director General of Police (DGP), Pilibhit's District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police (SP) stating that more than half of his land had been illegally occupied by Bihari Lal, Sriram, Gangaram and their associates.

Following which he and his family is reeling under penury.

He had also lodged complaints with the concerned officials, but of no avail.

Hence, he and his family should be allowed to die.
