CM announces adequate security MLA facing maoist threats

Patna, Apr 2(UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced to provide adequate security to LJP MLA Vijay Kumar Singh from Navinagar facing Maoist threats.

Intervening in the nosiy scenes created by the entire Opposition in the state Assembly over last nights Maoist attack on the residence of the MLA, Mr Kumar said he had spoken to Mr Singh and had inquired about his security.

He said the matter was being investigated and lawfull action would be taken. He also said adequate security would be given to the MLA.

Opposition members, including Mr Maheshwar Hajari of LJP and Mr Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Mr Ramchandra Purvey and others of the RJD, however, continued to complain. They said Mr Singh had already informed the Lower House about the threats but even after that his security was not enhanced. The members requesting Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhry to look into the matter as the safety and security of the members was a major responsibility of the Chair.

Mr Choudhry assured the members that the government was seriously looking into the matter.
