Agnivesh accuses CPM of supporting China's plan in Tibet
New Delhi, Apr 2 (UNI) World Council of Arya Samaj president and social activist Swami Agnivesh today accused the CPM of supporting China's cultural expansionism in Tibet.
Claiming that Beijing could not be allowed to violate human rights on the pretext of Olympic games to be held later this year, he said the stand of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) that violence in Tibet was an internal matter of China was ''incorrect''.
''By terming violence in Tibet as China's internal matter, the CPM is indirectly supporting the latter's cultural expansionis,'' he added.
The social activist also extended support to the Dalai Lama's non-violent efforts ''to save the socio-cultural and religious identity of the people of Tibet.'' He said the 10,000 branches of Arya Samaj spread across the globe would extend all possible help to the Dalai Lama in his struggle.
The Swami also appreciated the role of the government of India for allowing the Tibet government-in-exile to function from the country despite continuous pressure from China. ''By allowing peaceful demonstrations by Tibetans, the government has proved that for India guest is god,'' he added.
