Time ripe for actor Chiranjeevi's entry in politics: Reddy
Kakinada, Apr 1 (UNI) With speculation about film actor Chiranjeevi launching his proposed party on 'Ugadi'-the Telugu New Year Day, doing the rounds, former Kakinada District Congress president T V Satyanarayana Reddy today said the time was ripe for the actor to enter politics.
''All hopes are on the actor only as everyone is looking to him as the saviour. It is not limited to any caste, religion or section.
Everybody considers him as their man and time is ripe for his entry in to the political arena,'' he claimed, addressing a meeting of admirers of the proposed party here.
Mr Reddy also released a poster brought out by Backward Class leader Rayudu Nageswera Rao, making a fervent appeal to the Megastar to enter the political arena with a bang to ensure social justice, ending social inequalities, getting a change in political set up and restoring the self respect to poor people.
''Nowhere in the country, people themselves request a person to form a political party to shape the country's destiny. It is unprecedented. In the case of NTR, the people patronised him and his Telugu Desam Party (TDP) after he founded it, but where as in the case of Chiranjeevi, it is the other way round. People themselves are requesting him to form the political party much before any formal announcement from his side,'' Mr Reddy claimed.
People cutting across caste and religion lines are eagerly awaiting his entry in to politics he is the ray of hope for the poor downtrodden, backward classes, Dalits and neglected people,'' he claimed.
Mr Reddy, who recently resigned from the Congress with the sole aim of striving for the success of Chiranjeevi, categorically said he left the Congress not out of any dissent or dissatisfaction against the party.
''My wish was that atleast one leader from either of the two Godavari districts should become the Chief Minister and I found all such qualities in Chiranjeevi. Hence I am confident of his great success. I will be taking out 'padyatra' for 63 days in the district, covering each and every village campaigning in favour of the actor soon after he announces his political party,'' he said.
Many leaders, including the BCs, SCs, STs and Kapus, attended the meeting and expressed their solidarity to Chiranjeevi's proposed party.
Later, at a meeting of the Lawyers of both East and West Godavari districts held at the Municipal guest house, similar views were expressed by all the participants. They vowed to stand behind Chiranjeevi in establishing a party and leading it to success at the hustings.
