Third incarnation of Thromo Geshey Rimpoche enthroned

Gangtok, Apr 1 (UNI) The enthronement ceremony of five-year-old Tenzing Namsey Dorji as the third incarnation of Thromo Geshey Rimpoche took place here today at the residential centre of the Gelupka sect at Enchey Compound.

The Gelupka sect falls under Tibetan Buddhism with widespread followers in different parts of the world.

Several Gelupka sect followers from Darjeeling, Sikkim, Bhutan, US, Europe and Asian countries had arrived here to seek the blessings of the Thromo Geshey Rimpoche.

The original seat of power of the Gelupka sect is at Dungar monastery in Tibet.

Tenzing Namsey Dorji was recognised as the third incarnation by his root guru Kyabge Trizang Rimpoche, who is based in the US.

Dorji was born in the US but his parents reside at the Fifth Mile area, Tadong, Gangtok.

After being ordained as the third Thromo Geshey Rimpoche, Dorji will visit all the Gelupka sect monasteries spread throughout Darjeeling, Kurseong, Kalimpong as well as the Enchey Compound - the erstwhile residence of the second Thromo Geshey Rimpoche.

Two gurus will guide the five-year-old reincarnation in his religious and formal education.

Dorji will reside in the US for the next two to three years but will also visit his new house at Enchey Compound regularly.
