Somnath mourns Ramakrishnan
New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee today condoled the demise of Malayalam poet, social and political activist and former MLA Kadammanitta Ramakrishnan.
Mr Chatterjee in his condolence message said, ''I had the honour to meet him personally in October 2006 and dedicate a unique sculpture park, inspired by his own poems, in his hometown.'' The speaker said Ramakrishnan stood apart from his contemporaries for his distinctive style of poetry. His poems reflect his abiding concern for the poor and the vulnerable sections of society. His sensitive undertaking of the travails of the poor and the downtrodden has influnced his poetry greatly, Mr Chatterjee added.
Ramakrishnan, popularly known as Kadammanitta, passed away after a prolonged illness yesterday.
