Rain causes extensive damage in Puducherry town
Puducherry, Apr 1 (UNI) Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning caused extensive damage in Puducherry town last night.
As many as eight houses were damaged under the impact of strong winds at different places, including Ottanpalayam and Puthukuppam.
Another house at Orleanpet was damaged when a 'Peepal' tree fell over it. Several trees were also uprooted due to the strong winds.
About 20 television-sets and gold ornaments in a house in the town were burnt following the lightning.
The town went without power supply for about five hours due to rain, causing hardships to students preparing for the SSLC/Matric examinations.
