Punjab Govt not to challenge Bhattal's acquittal
Patiala, Apr 1 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said that Punjab Government would not appeal against the acquittal verdict of lower court in graft case, registered against PCC president Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, in higher court.
Talking to media persons at village Tohra, 28 km from here, on the 4th death anniversary of late Gurcharan Singh Tohra, he said that though it was registered in previous SAD tenure and previous Congress Government withdrew it, the present SAD-BJP government has not been promoting the path of altercation and confrontation.
He was commenting on being asked on the charges of former Chief Minsiter Capt. Amarinder Singh that the state Congress chief Bhattal was ''hand in glove with him''.
The Punjab Government was ready to take the help of opponent political party for the betterment and development of the state, Mr Badal asserted.
Regarding Guru Gobind Singh's relics and painting of Guru Harkrishan Sahib to be auctioned at London on April 9 and 11 respectively, Mr Badal said that the Punjab Government has approached the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to intervene in the matter. Regarding power scenario Badal said that Punjab would be transformed from a power deficit to power surplus state within next three years with additional generation capacity of 8000 to 10000 MW.
