Spl greeting covers for Ugadi by Postal dept

Bangalore, Apr 1: Karnataka Postal Circle released a set of special greeting covers, relating to flowering trees of the Garden City, on the eve of Ugadi festival, marking the onset of spring and Kannada new year.

The Karnataka Circle, Principal Chief Post Mater General, Meera Datta told reporters here today that the department has released three special covers on the eve of the festival, which is the first season of the year and hence heralding a new beginning.

Two of the covers relate to the multitude of flowering trees in the city and the other one relates to the festival, the new year for Kannadigas, she added.

Ms Datta said that the department would also launch a new initiative called - Sanje Speed Anche or Evening Speed Post - in the city.

Under the new initiative, articles would be delivered upto 1830 hrs, she said, adding that atleast 120 postmen were trained and deployed for this new special delivery system.
