Mah govt to take action against security firms violating norms

Mumbai, Apr 1 (UNI) Maharashtra government will be taking stringent action against private security firms, across the state, violating safety norms.

Labour minister Ganesh Naik, who made this announcement in the legislative council, said if these firms do not follow the guidelines of Maharashtra Suraksha Rakshak Act, action will be taken against them and their licenses will be suspended.

The issue was raised by Congress members, S Q Zama and Sanjay Dutt, alleging that the private security firms were not following government guidelines.

They said that out of around five lakh persons, engaged in performing duties as private security guards, only 19,365 security guards were registered under the Act.

Mr Naik said the State will conduct a survey in this regard and unregistered guards will be asked to get their registration done, under the Act.
