Fishermen Association urges Welfare Board

Puducherry, Apr 1 (UNI) The Puducherry state Fishermen Welfare Association has urged the territorial administration to take steps to set up a Fishermen Welfare Board as in Tamil Nadu for their welfare here.

They also demanded that an announcement in this regard be made in the ongoing Budget session of the territorial Assembly.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the general body meeting of the association today.

The resolution urged the administration to enhance compensation to the tune of Rs 1,000 during the period of ban on fishing.
