Congress resents false cases against its leaders and price rise

Shimla, Apr 1 (UNI) The Congress today criticised the BJP Government for registering false cases against its leaders and failure of the government to provide cheap rations to the people of the state under the Public Distribution System (PDS).

The Congress Legislative party (CLP), which met here under the chairmanship of Vidya Stokes, passed two resolutions on registeration of false cases against them and price rise.

''The CLP takes serious note of it and condemns it with all emphasises at its command. The party would not be intimidated and cowed down by such tactics of the BJP Government and would resist all such moves with determination and with all means available,'' it said.

It said it showed that the BJP Government has not learned any lessons from similar attempts made by it during the earlier tenure.

The party also came down on the BJP Government for failing to sustain the supply of cheap rice, atta, and three pulses, edible oils and iodised salt in the fair price shops.

''Cheap rations has vanished from the fair price shops and in many depots rice and wheat have vanished that was causing great hardship to the common man, resulting in unprecedented increase in the prices of essential commodities,'' it said.

The previous Congress Government had introduced subsidised ration under which rice, wheat, atta and three pulses to alls sections of society through fair price shops, it added.

Former state Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and all party legislators were present in the meeting.
