CommunicAsia 2008 to open on June 17 in Singapore
New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) Asia's largest media and communications exhibition, CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia, is scheduled to be held in Singapore from June 17-20.
''The event provides an able platform to the industry to display new technology as well as adopt them. Last year, we had 68,000 visitors and we expect the number to increase further this year,'' said Singapore Exhibition Services, CEO, Stephen Tan.
The event will showcase technologies from the high definition platform, 3G, LTE, IPTV, WiMax, mobile, broadcasting to handheld and immersive tech, while Japan's NHK will provide a glimpse of the futuristic Super Hi-Vision (SHV) technology.
''About 20 Indian companies are expected to participate some of them being Aksh Optifibre, Sterlite, Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council,'' Mr Tan said.
Global participation list includes names like LG, Samsung, ZTE, Navteq, Ericsson, Intelsat, Huawei and UTStarcomm.
According to PricewaterhouseCoopers Global Entertainment and Media Outlook 2007-11, the global entertainment and media industry will grow at a CAGR of 6.4 per cent to two trillion dollars by 2011, while digital and mobile spending is expected to touch 153 billion dollars by 2011.
