Collect holy Zam Zam water: J

Srinagar, Apr 1 (UNI) After waiting for more than three months, the Hajis from Jammu and Kashmir, who undertook the 2007 pilgrimage, will get holy Zam Zam water from tomorrow.

A total of about 10,000 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir performed the Haj. Out of them, five pilgrims died during the pilgrimage.

Executive officer of the State Haj Committee (SHC) Abdul Rashid Mir said they have received the Zam Zam water for the supply to pilgrims of 2207 Haj batch.

He said the pilgrims will be provided the holy water at SHC office in Baitul Hujaj, Bemina from tomorrow.

The Hajis, who performed the Haj in December last year, returned here without Zam Zam water. However, they were promised that they would be provided the holy water here after their arrival.

It took the authorities three months to bring the Zam Zam water from the holy city of Mecca here. They had repeatedly taken up the matter with the Central Haj Committee and airlines.

The Hajis distribute the Zam Zam water and dates among their relatives, friends and neighbours after their return from Haj pilgrimage.

Mr Mir said the holy water would be given to pilgrims on the production of piligrim passport only.

He said because of short supply of holy water from the airlines and enroute leakage, the pilgrims would be provided reduced amount of Zam Zam water so that all the pilgrims could get it.
