'Celestial cleaning' performed at Lord Balaji temple

Tirumala, Apr 1 (UNI) The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) today performed celestial cleaning of the temple (Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam), amid chanting of hymns by the priests at Lord Venkateswara temple here today.

The cleaning of the entire temple is performed four times in a year before festivals like annual Brahmotsavams, Ugadi, Anivariashanam and Vaikunta Ekadasi.

The five hour, marking the ''Ugadi'' festival, ritual started at 0700 hrs and devotees were allowed inside the temple to witness the ceremony.
