BEML ties up with Terex to make Rear Dumpers
Mysore, Apr 1 (UNI) Public sector earth moving giant BEML has entered into an agreement with US based Terex to manufacture heavy load rear dumpers with a capacity of 150 to 360 tones.
Speaking to a group of newspersons who visited the unit here, BEML Mysore complex Executive Director Subrat Kumar Das said an additional unit was already being build adjacent to the present facility which produced dumpers in the range of 15 to 120 tones now.
He said that BEML under the agreement Terex would provide technical assistance and some important components for the manufacture heavy duty dumpers to cater the needs of the mining sector both within the country and for exports.
Mr Das seven types of dumpers in these capacities would be taken up and Coal India had already ordered for 22 such vehicles. "We are expecting good orders from countries where we are already have a presence," he said.
Mr Das said that BEML had turnover of 2600 crore during the 2006-07 fiscal from the three units in Karnataka which included exports of Rs 100 crore, with Mysore complex contribution was ten percent in it. The Mysore unit was exporting 85 and 100 tonne to countries including Indonesia, Philippines and Australia.
The Mysore unit was contributing 25 per cent of the company's turnover and had registered 18 per cent growth in 2007-08. This was likely to go up to 20 per cent during this year, he said.
The company's turnover is expected to touch Rs 3000 crore this year and Rs 5000 crore by the year 2012-2013 when BEML celebrates its 50 years of existence, he said.
