All nine bodies of trader family cremated

Pehowa, Apr 1 (UNI) All the nine bodies of debt-ridden Mamchand family, who had recently committed suicide, were today consigned to flames here in the backdrop of a setting sun.

A pall of gloom descended on the town residents as the ambulances carrying the dead bodies of Mamchand family from PGI, Rohtak were taken straight to the cremation ground where the last rites were performed amidst the wails of relatives, local politicians, specially the INLD leaders, including Abhay Chautala, and people who had gathered in a large number.

Even though the sun was setting, the police and civil administration chose not to take a chance to postpone the cremation till tomorrow morning.

Moreover, the putrefied bodies, which has been extracted from Bhakra canal yesterday, were not in a condition to be kept overnight.

The last rites were performed hurriedly around 1930 hrs.
