Adivasi model rehabilitation scheme demanded

Kottayam, Apr 1 (UNI) Dalit-Adivasi leaders today demanded an 'adivasi model rehabilitation package for 'Dalit-Adivasi' and other landless communities.

Addressing a press conference here, 'Rashtriya Maha Sabha' General Secretary M Geethanandan and Dalit leaders E P Kumaradas and C J Thankachan said a conference of landless Dalit-Adivasi communities would be held here on April 12.

The meeting would chalk out an action plan for the success of the Chengara agitation by thousands of Dalits and other landless families for the past eight months under the leadership of the 'Sadhujana Samyuktha Vedi.' The Kerala Government's move to evict the agitating families could not be justified, they said and added that a Joint Action Council would decide on the future course of action at the conference.
