8 CPI(Maoist) among 9 killed in encounter

Garwah, Apr 1 (UNI) Altogether nine people, including eight CPI(Maoist) ultras, were killed in an encounter with police at Makhatu forest under Ranka police station area in this district late last night.

Police said the tractor-borne rebels were on their way to Bandu market area near the Chhattisgarh border, when a joint team of Chhattisgarh and the district police challenged them.

An exchange of fire followed in which nine people, including the eight ultras, died on the spot, the police said.

A huge cache of arms was also recovered from them, police added.
