24 held for road blockade

Puducherry,Apr 1(UNI)As many as 24 persons, including women, were arrested when they put up a road blockade at Odeanpattu Junction near here to press their demands.

They were demanding steps to provide protected drinking water supply to Kasi Viswanathan Nagar, near Odeanpattu.

Alleging they had not been getting drinking water for the last five days,the protestors broke empty pots on the road and put up the road blockade affecting traffic for over one hour.

Police arrested them after talks failed to resolve the impasse.
