21 booked in connection with Pehowa trader family's suicide
Kurukshetra, Apr 1 (UNI) Police today registered a case against 21 people in connection with the suicide by Pehowa based trader Mamchand's nine-member family, whose bodies were recovered from the SYL-Bhakra canal here yesterday.
According to police, cases have been registered against 21 people, under sections 306 and 120-B of the IPC, whose names the trader had mentioned in the suicide note before taking the drastic step.
Following the recovery of 7 bodies trapped in a car from the SYL canal yesterday, the number of bodies found in recent days from the two canals has risen to 18, causing widespread resentment and sorrow among local residents.
Ever since the bodies extricated from the canal were identified as those of the Mamchand family, angry relatives and villagers of Mustafabad village from where the trader hailed, have been demanding action against the ''guilty''.
The entire Pehowa town today observed a total bandh to press for the demand of action against the culprits. The Sarsatipur Tirth road, Anaj Mandi, Gurdwara road, Hisar road and Ambala road markets wore a deserted look. However, no untoward incident was reported, police said.
