2 top Hizb commanders killed in South Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 1 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police eliminated two top militant commanders in South Kashmir this afternoon, a police spokesman said.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, Nitish Kumar, Police received a specific information regarding the presence of militants at Dudu in Bijbehara area, in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.

He said an operation was launched by the Police in association with, 3 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 93Bn Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The area was cordoned off and all exit points were sealed which culminated into an encounter during which two top ranking Commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit were eliminated, he added.

The slain commanders were identified as Divisional Commander of outfit Aslam Khan alias Zia-ur-rehman and District Commander Javaid Ahmad Lone alias Nazar.

Further details are awaited, he added.
