Thundershowers bring relief from heat, mercury down to 35.5 deg C

New Delhi, Mar 31 (UNI) Strong thundershowers today brought relief for Delhiites from the 'unusual heat' being experienced for over a week now even as weathermen forecast rains and thundershowers for the next week.

The thundershowers, which hit Delhi this evening, brought down the maximum temperature from 36.4 degrees yesterday to 35.5 degrees.

Earlier, clouds in the skyline this morning led to a rise in minimum temperature to 22.4 degrees, five degree above normal.

More relief from heat is in the offing with the weathermen forecasting duststorms and thunderstorms over Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and West Uttar Pradesh during the next two to three days under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over Haryana and neighbourhood.

''Under this scenario day temperatures are likely to fall considerably over Northwest India in the coming days,'' weathermen said.

The met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with thunderstorms and duststorms in some areas.
