Silver opens down, gold gains

Mumbai, Mar 31: A mixed trend was today witnessed in the precious metal prices, as the value of silver dropping by Rs five at 23,410 per kg at the opening session while gold gaining by Rs 15 at Rs 12,055 per ten gm on fresh demand from ornament makers at Bombay bullion market here.

Following were the opening rates of spot silver and gold in the Bombay bullion market today: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade : Rs 23,410 Gold (per 10 gm) Gold 99.5 purity standard mint : Rs 12,055 Gold 99.9 purity pure gold : Rs 12 110.
