Rain brings relief from scorching heat

Chennai, Mar 31 (UNI) A sudden down pour in the morning brought delight to the residents, who were reeling under sweltering heat The sharp showers brought life in the city to a halt, catching several road-users unaware and leading to inundation in many places.

The Meteorological Department officials attributed the sudden showers to the thunderstorm activity that was common during this month.

They forecast a partly cloudy sky with possibility of shower or thundershower in some areas during the next 24 hours.

The day temperatures that was hovering between 32 degree to 34 degrees Celsius came down after the brief rain.

Several areas experienced a sudden downpour leaving puddles of water on roads.

According to the Met Department the city recorded 2.6 cm of rainfall in the 12 hours ending 1320 hrs.
