Nokia all set to 'dial' 100 mn new subscribers

Goa, Mar 31: Nokia, the world leader in mobility, is all set to reach out to 100 million new subscribers and unveil four new models, including the Ovi series, the single click application to access to internet services, during this year besides restructuring its divisions.

Addressing a two-day strategy session 'Towards universal access from anyone to anywhere to anything' here, Nokia India Vice President and Managing Director D Shivakumar said India was the number two country for the company during 2007 and Nokia was looking for an exciting opportunity during 2008 and emerge as the single top desired brand in the country.

"We are looking for 100 million additional subscribers in the year 2008 and in the next 16 to 17 months, India will become the Number one country for Nokia," Mr Shivakumar said striking an optimistic note on the growth prospects of the company in the country.

The company had identified new users, replacement users and services users as three growth avenues, he said adding Nokia had a strong connection with Indian consumers and had a huge relevance in the country, he said.
