Do not ruin Indo-China relations: Pranab to Dalai Lama

Murshidabad, Mar 31: External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today urged the Dalai Lama not to cause ill relations between India and China.

Speaking at an inaugural function of a private B Ed college at Aurangabad in the district's Jangipur sub-division, Mr Mukherjee said that the Dalai Lama is only a guest in our country. ''I respect his highness as he is the Tibetan's religious leader. However, we cannot allow anything that may jeopardise our relations with our neighbouring country,'' he said. Several Congress leaders who were present on the occasion, included Farkka MLA Mainul Haq and Baharampur MP Adheer Chowdhury.
