Cong MLA offers to resign over distribution of party tickets
Dehra Dun, Mar 31 (UNI) A Congress MLA has sent the party in a tizzy here after he offered to resign alleging he was sidelined in the distribution of tickets for the local body elections.
Tehri Mla Kishore Upadhayay submitted his resignation to Leader of the Oppositon Harak Singh Rawat, saying he was not taken 'into confidence' by congress legislators in the distribution of tickets.
Mr Rawat described the move as a 'serious development' and convened a meeting of Congress legislators to discuss the issue.
The rift between the party erupted as soon as the first list of Congress candidates was released. Other party MlAs also threatened to resign from the Vidhan Sabha if they too were ignored over the issue.
Local body elections in the state will be held next month.
