India should boycott Beijing Olympics: Fernandes
Vadodara, Mar 30 (UNI) Former Defence Minister George Fernandes today said India should boycott the Beijing Olympics, if China does not stop repression in Tibet.
In an informal interaction with newspersons at a function to release a book ''Experiments with Truth: Dalai Lama in exile from Tibet'' written by a Vadodara-based couple Dr Bhasker and Rajni Bhatt here, Mr Fernandes said China should immediately stop violence in Lhasa and other parts of Tibet.
He said India has good bilateral relationship with China, so it should exert diplomatic pressure on China to amicably resolve the crisis.
Mr Fernandes said the Government's policy towards China on Tibet issue is wrong.
When asked about National Democratic Alliance's stand on the same, Mr Fernandes said it is difficult to spell out its stand at the moment.
