Father drowns in thermal plant channel while saving son
Rupnagar, Mar 30 (UNI) An employee of the Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant here drowned in the escape channel of the plant while trying to save his son this morning.
According to police, the incident occurred when Sohan Singh (50) of village Ghanuali, and his son Talwinder Singh (16) were returning home on a bicycle, carrying fodder.
While riding along the embankment of the escape channel of the thermal plant, Talwinder lost balance and fell into it.
In an attempt to save his son, Sohan jumped into the channel.
However, he was swept away by the strong current of water.
Meanwhile, Talwinder was rescued by the security staff of the thermal plant.
