Cops land into trouble for sleeping during dutytime
Tirunelveli, Mar 30 (UNI) Taking a tough stand against the erring cops while on duty in the wake of recent thefts of arms in police stations, State police department had transferred four police personnel, including a woman sub-inspector of police to the Armed Reserve (AR) wing for dereliction of duty, here today.
A senior police official of the South Zone told 'UNI' here today that during the pre-dawn surprise inspection, the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rubesh Kumar Meena found the woman sub-inspector Amutha and police constables Balasubramanian, Durai and Xavier, attached to the Palayamkottai Taluk Police Station in Tirunelveli district sleeping during night duty. The Constable Xavier had even dropped his gun on the ground, while sleeping.
Shocked over the dereliction of duty by the erring cops, the ASP informed the matter to the higher-ups, on which the erring cops were immediately transferred to the AR police wing.
A departmental inquiry would be conducted against them, he added.
