Ban on combat dresses in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 30: Jammu and Kashmir government has banned the sale and purchase of combat dresses in border district of Baramulla in north Kashmir with immediate effect.

Official sources said the ban order was issued to prevent the misuse of combat dresses by the militants, who in the past, carried out Fidayeen attacks on vital installations, wearing military uniforms.

They said the District Magistrate, Baramulla, has issued the orders banning the sale, purchase, stitching and wearing of military dresses. He said banned plying of painted vehicles of Army pattern. Sources said the police and magistrates in the district have been directed to conduct raids in their jurisdiction and seize all the military dresses and cloths.

The ban will remain in force for 60 days, they said.
