Woman raped in moving car in HP

Kangra, Mar 29 (UNI) In the first incident of its kind in the state, two people took turns to rape a woman in a moving car in Kangra district on Thursday, a top district police official today said.

The two, identified as Pratap Chand and Dhuni Chand, took turns to rape the woman who had sought lift from them to Paprola from a busstop in old Kangra city.

Kangra district SP Atul Fulzule said the woman, who had come here to pay obeisance at the famous Brijashwari Temple, after waiting for a long time for a bus sought a lift from them.

The two people after threatening to kill her if she raised her voice, took her towards Thural in the district and raped her in their moving car.

They were speeding away to an unknown destination, but were heldup due to an altercation with a drunkard who refused to give way to their vehicle. Taking advantage of the situation the woman escaped from their custody, the SP said.

Mr Fulzule said the woman later reached a nearest police station and narrated the incident, after which the two were arrested.

A case has been registered against them and investigations are on, he added.
