UPA govt committed to curb inflation: Rahul Gandhi

Bangalore, Mar 29 (UNI) Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today said the UPA government, headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had accorded top priority to curb the soaring inflation.

Interacting with newspersons at the party office here, he said the Centre had achieved tremendous growth on all fronts in the last four years.

He said the government was making sincere attempts to bring down inflation.

''Our Prime Minister is an economic expert and he is making sincere attempts in this direction,'' he added.

On his party's defeat in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, he said he viewed the political system in a long-term perspective and intended to bring changes in the system gradually.

''For me it is still a learning process,'' he added.

Refusing to react to a question related to his meeting with BJP Leader L K Advani recently, he merely said it was personal and he did not want to discuss it in public.

Asked whether there was any internal squabbles in the state Congress, he said the state party unit was brimming with confidence.

On projecting a leader as Chief Ministerial candidate, he said the party leadership would decide on this.

''After interacting with the state leaders, I feel there is no internal differences and it is only a media creation,'' he added.
