Scam unearthed in Bhavnagar University

Bhavnagar Gujarat, Mar 29 (UNI) Bhavnagar University's vice-chancellor H C Trivedi today unearthed a scam of replacing answer-sheets in examinations of the University.

Acting on specific information, Mr Trivedi and the University's Registrar Ramsinh Rajput conducted a surprise check and caught Dr Abhay Chauhan and Dasrath Chauhan while they were writing answers for students at a private place.

The duo later replaced the answer-sheets with the help of five others. The gang was charging Rs 50,000 from each student for replacement of answer-sheets.

Meanwhile, Mr Trivedi has also ordered a departmental inquiry against three erring officials of the affiliated Shyamaldas Ayurvedic College and have suspended them.

Later, Mr Trivedi and Mr Rajput filed a police complaint against a former senate member Tinchubha Zala, G G Gohil, Dharmendra Acharya, Bhupat Solanki, all staffers of Shyamaldas Ayurvedic College, (who were suspended), Dr Abhay Chauhan, Ranjit Dodia and Dashrath Chauhan.

Police have arrested all these seven persons and filed an FIR against them under IPC 120 (b), 379, 381, 408, 419, 420, 465, 468, 469, 471 and 476.
