Over 80 huts perish in fire in Una
Una, Mar 29 (UNI) Over 80 hutments perished in a fire that broke out in Lalsingi village of this district today, police said.
No loss of life has been reported, though the loss to property has been assessed to about Rs four lakh. This is the second incident in the area in less than a week.
The fire was brought under control by fire personnels and local people, who battled fierce flames for over two hours, the police informed.
The open space near the Lalsingi Khud was being used for last many years by migrant population from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar for residential purpose.
More than 400 thatched roof huts have been constructed there and incidents of fire were common every year during the summers, the sources added.
The cause of the fire was, however, not immediately known, they said, adding that a case has been registered and investigations are on.
