IGNOU to launch M Ed, DPE courses
New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will launch two new courses--Master of Education (M Ed) and Diploma in Primary Education (DPE) programme from July this year, said Prof V N Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor of the University.
The M Ed Programme developed jointly by the Distance Education Council (DEC), IGNOU and National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) is a two-year programme offered through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system.
Eligibility for admission to the programme shall be as per NCTE norms. The cut-off marks would be at least 55 per cent marks in the B Ed/B El Ed.
The Diploma in Primary Education (DPE) programme which aims to enhance understanding and competencies of in-service teachers at the primary and elementary level, is a collective effort of School of Education, IGNOU and NCERT.
Untrained or under-trained permanent teachers having passed matric/HSC/+2 standard in new pattern of education or above and teaching at the primary and elementary level (standard I to standard VIII) in the recognized schools, will be eligible for DPE.
The teachers should have minimum two years teaching experience at the time of seeking admission. Duration is minimum two years and maximum six years.
