Four held for attempting to convert tribals
Ratlam, MP, Mar 29 (UNI) Four people were arrested on the charge of attempting to induce tribals to convert to Christianity at Harthal village in this district, police said today.
''On the basis of a villager Ramlal's complaint, Vilaschandra Nag, Bharatram Patel, Sukhram and Ramesh were arrested yesterday.
Publicity material, LCD, projector and CD etc were seized from them,'' said Superintendent of Police Umesh Joga.
He said the four gathered the tribals at one place yesterday and told them that God would take away all their problems, including financial hardships, if they converted to Christianity.
According to Ramlal, the accused made insulting remarks for Hindu deities.
Police took immediate action after receiving the complaint. A case has been registered against the accused under the Freedom of Religion Act, 1969.
