Contract employees at NLC go on indefinite stike
Chennai, Mar 29 (UNI) Power generation in the public sector Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) is likely to be affected as thousands of contract employees resorted to an indefinite strike from today.
Police sources said about 4,335 of the 4,746 first shift staff embarked on the stir demanding 8.33 per cent as bonus and recognition to their union by the management.
The decision to go ahead with the strike was taken after the talks, held by the union representatives with the NLC management, failed to break the impasse.
NLC workers' union claimed that contract employees who would be coming for the second and third shift duties would also join the stir.
