Compensation announced for Bldg collapse victims, CM visits injured

New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today ordered to pay compensation of Rs one lakh to the next of kin of each of the adults who died in this morning's building collapse in east Delhi and also announced Rs 50000 compensation for kin of minors killed in the incident.

Six people were killed and 16 injured when a four storeyed building which was under construction in Seelampur area of east Delhi collapsed at 0730 this hrs.

For the victims belonging to the below poverty line families, however, the compensation will be of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of each of the adults and Rs 75000 for the kin of each of the children dead in the incident.

For those injured in the incident, a compensation of upto Rs 75000 has been announced depending on the seriousness of their injuries.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh, local MP Sandeep Dikshit and several MLAs, visited Guru Teg Bahadur hospital at Dilshad Garden to meet the injured.

Ms Dikshit enquired about the health of the injured and ordered for their proper treatment in the hospital.

The Chief Minister also asked the concerned Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) to institute an inquiry into all aspects of the incident in which few children also died.

Delhi Lt Governor Tejender Khanna has already ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident while the MCD has ordered a vigilance inquiry into the matter.
