CEC ready to hold LS polls after August 31: Gopalaswami

Tiruchirapalli, Mar 29 (UNI) Chief Election Comissioner (CEC) N Gopalaswami today said the Commission was prepared to hold Lok Sabha elections after August 31.

Talking to newspersons here, he said though the general election was due only by May next year, the CEC was prepared for the polls after August 31, after the publication of final electoral roll on the basis of delimitation of constituencies.

He said it was practically impossible to achieve cent per cent coverage for the photo voters list and provie voters identity cards to all the voters in the country.

He said Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Sikkim would go for the Assembly polls in May next year along with the scheduled Lok Sabha polls.
