Railway revenue up 17.82 per cent

New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) Propelled by improved performance in freight transportation and passenger traffic, the Railway earned Rs 2300.09 crore during March 10-20 compared to Rs 1952.22 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 17.82 per cent.

The goods earnings went up from Rs 1301.72 crore to Rs 1566.85 crore during the period, showing an increase of 20.37 per cent.

The total passenger revenue earnings were Rs 641.40 crore compared to Rs 542.07 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 18.32 per cent.

The total approximate number of passengers booked during the period were 186.97 million compared to 1801.31 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 3.49 per cent.

In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during March 11-20 this year were 103.88 million and 83.09 million compared to 104.66 million and 76.65 million during the same period last year, registering a decrease of 0.75 per cent and an increase of 8.40 per cent respectively.
