MCX clocks total turnover of Rs 4916.58 cr

Mumbai, Mar 28 (UNI) The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has clocked a total turnover of Rs 4916.58 crore and 68,020 trades.

MCX Comdex, the composite index of metals, energy and agro-commodities, lost 0.90 per cent at 2744.31 points.

Gold clocked a turnover of Rs 1891.27 crore, with a volume of 15,496 kgs and open interest of 9,678 kgs while the silver turnover was Rs 933.33 crore on a volume of 395,735 kgs and open interest of 219,385 kgs.

Gold October 08 contract remained unchanged. Gold April and June 08 contracts lost 1.13 per cent each at Rs 12,195 and 12,214 per 10 grams respectively. Silver June 08 contract was down 1.41 per cent at Rs 23,852 per kg.

Metal contracts gained across the board. Lead May 08 contract advanced by 2.11 per cent at Rs 106.50 per kg and tin May 08 contract by 1.22 per cent at Rs 828.75 per kg.

Crude oil April 08 contract shrunk 1.18 per cent at Rs 4253 per barrel while natural gas contracts also lost.

Refined soy oil, chana, turmeric, potato (Agra and TRWR), menthe oil and jute suffered setbacks.

Aluminum May 08 contract topped the list of gainers with a rise of 3.10 per cent at Rs 122.90 per kg and nickel March 08 contract by 1.36 per cent at Rs 1266 per kg, an MCX release said.
