Lok Adalats settle more than 50 cases in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 28 (UNI) More than 50 cases of different nature were settled in Lok Adalats in the Kashmir valley, where thousands of cases pending for years were amicably sorted out between rival parties during the past six months.

Official sources said a Lok Adalat in the court complex at Pattan took our 22 cases for hearing. Out of these 16 cases were settled through reconciliation by the adalat chaired by Sub Judge, Pattan, Syed Tawqeeer Ahmad.

A similar Lok Adalat was held at District Court complex Baramulla, under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Sheikh Ghulam Nabi, where 41 cases of different nature were taken up.

The adalat settled 35 cases amicably and Rs 1.60 lakh were realised as decree amount and another Rs 4300 as fine.
