Itanagar, Mar 28 (UNI) Surface communication at several places in Arunachal Pradesh has been disrupted following landslides triggered by torrential rain for the last couple of days.

Official sources informed that the most worst affected districts were Dibang Valley, Lower Dibang Valley and Changlang.

The road connecting Anini, headquarters of Dibang Valley districts to Roing (Lower Dibang Valley) is blocked since Tuesday last due to landslides at several places following incessant rainfall.

Around 37 passengers, including patients, students and government officials were stranded at Anini as the Pawan Hans chopper service could not be engaged due to bad weather conditions, sources informed.

Many passengers, including Parliamentary Secretary of Civil Aviation-cum-local legislator Rajesh Tacho and some head of department were also stranded at Roing, the headquarters of Lower Dibang Valley district due to landslides at several locations.

Passenger vehicles were also stranded on the way to Roing.

The people of Roing Township are still reeling under darkness and facing shortage of potable water due to damage in Deopani hydro channel a couple of week ago caused by rain and landslide.

Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) sources informed that there was a heavy landslide at Endollin nallah near 173 kilometer point from Anini and restoration of surface communication might take two to three days.

In Changlang, landslides have occurred at many places partially damaging roads and government quarters, sources added.
