By Juhan Samuel Kochi, Mar 28 : A varied interest in jumbos makes Manoj, a resident from Kochi, proud of his unique collections of news articles concerning elephants.

His unique interest in collecting and restoring all the elephant-related news and photos started way back in 1990 when he noticed that his village elephant made headlines in the newspapers. Since then he started collecting news or photos on elephants, which appeared in the dailies and magazines.

"I am an ardent lover of jumbos. My friends and teacher told me that news has more value when it is restored or gets old, which struck me and I started collecting," Manoj said.

V.S. Ravindarnath, a retired teacher of his village induced Manoj to reinstate all his news in the form of albums so that his collections should be preserved in a proper manner. Presently, he has got over 15 albums in his possession. Let it be accidents on railway tracks, temple festivals, transportation of jumbos in vehicles, their plight or the famous Asiad Appu of India and various other related issues, Manoj never miss a chance to give the piece a place in his album. is friends and neighbours have helped him to get news articles from other places and also supports him in restoring the piece in albums. He has in his possession thousands of news articles related to elephants published in news papers and even photos dating back to 70's, which are properly preserved in the form of albums. Now Manoj is planning to make a website of his own so that others can also read and know about various news articles on elephants.
