Heirok people demand guns to defend themselves
Imphal, Mar 28 (UNI) The people of Heirok in Thoubal district of Manipur have demanded guns to defend themselves after killing of three youths, including two girls, at a dance festival here on March 24 night.
The locals had yesterday pulled down four houses of people allegedly involved in the incident which happened during the Thabal Chongba (Dance in the moonlit night), in Heirok Part II Laikon Maning, Thoubal, according to police.
Tension was high in the area. The Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed to protest the killing had submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister O Ibobi demanding weapons for all.
Vice-President, JAC, Kh Basanta said there had been no response to the memorandum yet. The JAC also refused to accept the apology of the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak(PREPAK) for the incident.
The PREPAK had stated that the incident happened due to some mistake.
