HC seeks HP Wakf Board report on encroachments
Shimla, Mar 28 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the State Wakf Board to furnish details of encroachments on its lands by April 28.
The court, in its order, directed the CEO of Wakf Board to submit the list of encroachers and detail the steps that had been taken by it to remove those encroachments and protect the mosques in Shimla town vicinity.
The order came on petition filed by one Imran Khan who alleged that unidentified persons from outside the state had encroached upon the mosques of the town.
It was also alleged that the Wakf Board had failed to maintain the sanctity of the mosques and it was becoming difficult for the residents to offer prayers in them.
The petitioner had also apprehended threat to the peace and security of the state in its petition following which the court directed the Wakf Board's CEO to furnish details of all encroachments.
