Haryana for strict adherence of Emigration Act

Chandigarh, Mar 28 (UNI) The Haryana Government has cautioned those job seekers who are desirous of going abroad for employment to be aware of the provisions of the Emigration Act, 1983 and use the services of registered recruiting agencies only for their safety and security.

A spokesman of Haryana Home Department today said the state government had made it mandatory for travel agents and recruiting agents, who facilitate in sending job seekers out of India, to get themselves registered as recruiting agents under the Emigration Act and follow all provisions of the Act. Action would be taken against those agents who would not comply with these instructions, he added.

The Emigration Act regulates the terms and conditions of overseas employment and protects and safeguards the interests of Indian workers desirous of going abroad for employment.

Under the provisions of the Act, a foreign employer can recruit any citizen of India for employment in any country either through a registered recruiting agent or directly only after obtaining a valid permit from the competent authority as defined in section 15 (chapter IV) of the Act.
