Five arrested for beating a woman allegedly practising witchcraft
Patna, Mar 28 (UNI) Altogether five people have been arrested for mercilessly beating a woman allegedly practising witchcraft at Dumariya under Maner police station in Patna district.
Admitting the incident, Bihar Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav said in the Assembly today that Lalpari Devi (50), wife of Jagdish Paswan, was beaten up on the charges of practising witchcraft yesterday.
He said soon after getting the information police acted promptly and arrested one person yesterday, while four were arrested today.
The victim woman was admitted to the local hospital for treatment.
An FIR was lodged at Maner police station in this connection.
The matter was being investigated, he said.
